The structural steel design and shop drawings detailing process
The design input process starts with the receipt of information such as architectural drawings, design concepts, drafts, specifications and design scope from the client. The design and detailing process are streamlined as follows, with each stage carefully coordinated and checked by VNIX’s dedicated engineers and design coordinators:
- Review of client’s design input data, scope and design criteria
- Clarification of technical data and raising RFIs (request for information), as and when necessary
- Checking and verification of architectural and structural dimensions
- Modeling, analysis and design of structural elements
- Optimization of structural scheme and members for ease and economy of speed of construction
- Design of connections and joints
- Optimization of connection joints with regards to ease and speed of construction methodology
- Checking of all design calculations and output
- Transfer of structural design model to the detailing system
- Verify structural model received from design team
- Preparation of GA (general arrangement) drawings
- Detail drawing of all elements
- Generation of elements and bolts lists
- Checking of all shop drawings
- Issuance of shop drawings for fabrication workshop
Design and Drawing Output
Output design reports and drawings are controlled and documented with corresponding design and drawing registers. Similarly, revisions and changes are captured within the revision blocks and registers.

Before issuance to the client, all design output and drawings are carefully checked by our engineering personnel and checklists documented at every stage for all designs and drawings output.
